This is how Berlin welcomes 2024
2023 is drawing to a close. No sooner have the first doors on the Advent calendar been opened than the question of what's going on in Berlin at the turn of the year arises. We have the best tips for a successful New Year's Eve in the capital. Make sure you get your tickets for the coolest events quickly, as they will soon be sold out. By the way: you can still visit many Christmas markets in Berlin between the years and in the first week of January.
Tip 1: Celebrate New Year's Eve at the Brandenburg Gate
A gigantic party with food trucks and live music will take place at the Brandenburg Gate again this year. The show with 20 live acts will be broadcast live on ZDF. The big highlight is, of course, the fireworks display, which bathes the night sky above Berlin's landmark in a shimmer of sparks and beams of light. An unforgettable moment!

Tip 2: Enjoy the Berlin Philharmonic's New Year's Eve concert live or in the cinema
End 2023 with classical music at the Philharmonie Berlin. At the concert on 31 December, you will hear the first act of Richard Wagner's Walküre conducted by Kirill Petrenko. Vida Miknevičiūtė in the role of Sieglinde, Jonas Kaufmann as Siegmund and Georg Zeppenfeld as Hunding will take on the vocal part. Get a ticket for the performance now or follow the concert from home using the live broadcast. You can also enjoy the live broadcast in 12 Berlin cinemas.

Tip 3: Start the new year with the Velvet Creepers
A show that combines burlesque, cabaret and artistry awaits you at Ballhaus Berlin on New Year's Eve. Under the motto "Gatsby meets Berghain", a show in the style of the 1920s meets queer Berlin club culture. The result is fascinating, colourful and entertaining. In addition to the performances, there will be a snack bar and interactive games. At midnight, the dance floor will be opened in the Ballhaus and the night will be danced through with several DJ sets.

Dinner for One is a New Year's Eve classic that every German has seen many times on television. How about a live production of this hilarious sketch this year? Several theatres in Berlin are offering performances on New Year's Eve. Some theatres give the story a special twist. Whether classic or newly interpreted, a visit to the theatre is sure to get you in the New Year mood.

Radio Teddy will be on site, and there will also be glitter tattoos, a wheel of fortune and a balloon machine to discover. In addition to a live show with an ice princess, the children's firework display is one of the highlights of the evening.
